$99 Gone…920 Calories Gained

Published by auria cortes at 7:55 pm under Uncategorized

The rain lightened up so I went to the store to buy a toaster because I was in the mood for toast. Instead of buying a toaster, I bought a convention oven. Please don’t ask me why. I don’t know. But at least I can toast some bread.

I then went to the supermarket, walked out with pineapple/coconut Haagen-Dazs and no bread to toast.

I ate the whole container of ice cream, but that’s not the sick part. My tongue gets numb after a few spoonfuls of ice cream so I can’t taste it after a while. So I downed 920 calories and I can’t feel my tongue.

Oh, the writer’s life. It’s not easy, my friends.

Are you sure you don’t have a vice that gives you the munchies???:-) Just joking. When you say convention, did you mean convection oven or is a toaster oven? When I bought my new toaster after moving here, I went all out and got a 4 slot one- Not once in my 8 months here have I made 4 pieces of toast at once! I thought we’d have breakfast together and I’d serve it buffet style……….well, we all eat breakfast at different times and since I’m naturally nochturnal and not a morning person, my first meal is usually lunch-ha.

Do you live alone? It’s the one thing I miss. I get about 8 hours alone time a day, and sometimes I even want/need more.

Also, do you run 3 miles every day? I love to stay in shape, but I find it difficult to be consistent with one thing. Right now, I’m into this Pilates DVD with a circle- I didn’t like regular pilates as much, I’m hoping to stick with this circle.

    I have a vice! Yes! :-)

But in all fairness, the ice cream is all I ate today. Not because I wasn’t hungry all day. But because I don’t cook and never have food in the house. Since it was raining all day, I only went to the gym this morning and I didn’t want to venture back out.

“When you say convention, did you mean convection oven or is a toaster oven?”

This is why I don’t belong in a kitchen. Covention oven. LOL

Also, I don’t know the difference btwn a convection oven and a toaster oven. But the box says convection oven. I bought it because it was on sale.

“Do you live alone? It’s the one thing I miss. I get about 8 hours alone time a day, and sometimes I even want/need more. ”

Yes, I live alone. I love it. I have minimal contact with the outside world. I think most writers are loners.

“Also, do you run 3 miles every day?”

Yes. Sometimes more. I’ve been a runner all my life. I don’t think of it as exercise.

Yoga, pilates, and toning feel like exercise to me.

Thanks for answering. You must be in killer shape! This back and forth makes me feel like an emailer-something I never do. I have a yahoo messenger thing, but have never used it. I’m naturally a loner too- your life sounds fun (probably sounds weird to non-loners, but I loved moving to where I didn’t know anyone). I look forward to reading your book in the future.

    “Erika, do you write?”

No, but I like the idea of having my own blog one day. I think I need to become more computer literate first-ha.

  8. auria corteson 28 Apr 2008 at 10:42 pm

Why one day? Why not now? Like today?

Creating a blog is just as easy as commenting on one. What would your blog be about?

  9. Erikaon 28 Apr 2008 at 11:14 pm

Wow, if only I were as motivated as you! You should start a motivational blog!

I would probably focus a lot on music, movies, and random life stuff. I like the interactive features too -like your Friday’s Feast or Rain’s QOTD. I’m also into photography, so I could post my shots. Thanks for the encouragement……the procrastinator in me thinks maybe in the Fall. You definitely got me thinking about it!

Photograhpy? Perfect. I took it up last year because I thought it would be easy. LOL

Boy was I wrong about that. Tomorrow I’ll post shots. I have a LONG way to go. My pics don’t have the professional feel to them. But I think that’s because I haven’t taken the time to learn how to use the software that takes out the kinks.

I would love to see your pics.

“the procrastinator in me thinks maybe in the Fall”

Why the Fall? What’s so special about the Fall? Wait. Don’t answer that. I’ll tell you, nothing. :-) - even though Fall is my favorite time of the year.

Start the darn thing today. See where it leads. You have EIGHT hours to yourself. Do you know how much you can accomplish for yourself in all that time?

Since you are into photography, that means you have a creative side. A blog is an extension of that.

Come back tomorrow and let us know the url for your new blog.

Auria, you are relentless. I LOVE it. But who could live with you?? (joke, just a joke) You also RUN daily?? Gees. I used to…poor me. It is the hot tamales candies you sprinkle on the ice cream that gets you off and running! I bet people are drawn to you. I bet you are run after. What part of NYC do you live in, if you can say.

  12. auria corteson 29 Apr 2008 at 7:51 am

“But who could live with you??”

LOL…now do you understand why I’m single? :-)

    “You also RUN daily??”

I’m celibate!!! I have to relieve my stress somehow. :-)

I’ll email you the answer to the last question.

“Auria, you are relentless. I LOVE it. But who could live with you??”

I know I couldn’t live with her, I’m serious. I still love you though, this long distance thing works for me. I don’t think I’d be that easy to live with either..Just ask my hubby. Actually it depends on the time of the month.

    Erika ,
you really should start a blog. I’m sure all of the Great Minds would help you as much as they can.
