Conversation Thursday: Wannabe Actress
Phone rings
Me: Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friend: What’s going on?
Me: Nothing really. Just thinking.
Friend: About what?
Me: How I can never be a comedic actress because I can’t fake laugh.
Friend: What?
Me: I can’t fake laugh. That will limit the parts I’m offered.
Friend: You want to be an actress?
Me: Nope, but if I wanted to I could only be a dramatic actress. No laughing required.
Friend: How long have you been thinking about this?
Me: Since this morning. Listen to this (I fake laugh).
<silence>
Me: What did you think?
Friend: That wasn’t very good. Let me hear you fake cry.
Me: Why?
Friend: Dramatic actresses have to fake cry.
Me: I didn’t think of that (I fake cry).
Friend: Your fake cry needs work.
<silence>
Friend: What are you thinking about?
Me: How I can never be a dramatic actress.

Seriously, a compilation of your “Conversations With Friend” would make a most excellent book. I so enjoy this kind of meaningless and yet insightful banter … I mean “meaningless” in a good way, don’t cry. You apparently suck at that anyway. Lovin’ the Thursdays.
Isn’t it funny how we all want the option to be something else.
Some days I’d take the option to be *anyone* else.
