Get Published: Chicken Soup for the Soul

Published by auria cortes at 4:49 pm under Publishing Opportunities

chickensoup.JPGWhen people find out I’m writing a book most inevitably say that they always wanted to write one. Writing a book takes commitment so I can understand someone’s reluctance to begin putting words to paper.  For those of you who want to write but don’t have the time to or the inclination to write a novel, Chicken Soup for the Soul Series is seeking story submissions. This is a great way to begin writing and possibly published without committing to writing a complete book.  There is a topic for just about everyone, including cat lover’s, stay at home moms, green lover’s, teenagers, embarrassing moments, baking with kids, and runner’s soul (there are more on the Chicken Soup for the Soul site).

If you don’t see a topic that interests you, simply write and submit your story anyway. Here are the links to get started:

What about publishing poems? Do you know how to submit for publishing?

Poetry and short stories are the hardest genre to get published. I’ll dig up some info and post it.

Thanks for the info and the links. Story submissions to this project would be a great way to get started. Might even be the incentive for someone (me) to get back to finishing that novel that’s been gathering dust for far too long. Thanks again.

I didn’t know you started a novel. That’s wonderful news. If you (or anyone else for that matter) decides to submit a story, let me know.

I’ve never read Chicken Soup for the Soul. My first step is to read a few books to see if the writing style suits me.

The New Yorker is also a great place to try to get a short story published. Brokeback Mountain started off as a short story.

Welcome to my blog, Aaron. Under the categories Publishing Opportunities and under Writing Contests you can find information on how to get your poetry published.

Here are a few links but make sure to look under the catergories I stated above for more information. In fact, I posted a contest where first prize is $300. I just can’t remember which post it was.
