Diane, today I posted the number of words a book has. The number depends on the genre. Your book, in my opinion, will probably need to be 90,000 words or so. Your best bet is to research similiar books.

Once your book is complete you write a query letter and send it off to agents. When I get to that point, I'll begin posting information on each process.

I will head over to Braincheese's site in a bit.

Tell me...what do I do with the beast when I'm done? After I've rewritten and decided, "'Tis done." I have had/read hundreds of books in my life and not a clue how many words "make a book."
My story is such that I can make it as long or as short as I want. The city is a character, the time is a character---MUCH could be
dealt with.

Braincheese has a link you might find interesting on her current post about a stroke.

Thanks for sharing Diane. It's interesting how my book is a bit similiar to what you described above. Hmmm...

"I am considering getting an MRI and another RIGHT after aunt dies…just to see"

That's a terrific idea.

"my 70 day writing is going very well"

Mine is as well. My first draft will probably be completed before the seventy days, but that's because I am working on a book that was stalled - so I had a few thousand words before the challenge started. In addition, I estimate that my book will run 50-60,000 words.

I imagine yours will probably be more than 70,000 words. True stories are always more compelling than fiction.

I saw a death and lied, when Aunt Violet dies I am supposed to "inherit" some great powers as she did when her sister died...good grief. She is legally blind, but when I've called her after seeing someone, we describe same characteristics, one of us will say, "Did he have a shirt..." and she will interrupt me, "flannel." And back and forth we go. What does it mean? What am I supposed to DO with it? It doesn't fit well ANYWHERE in my life philosophy. I am considering getting an MRI and another RIGHT after aunt dies...just to see; when I got MS, the "power" seemed to be less, with just pockets of...stuff, but lately it is increasing again...I can FEEL it. PS--my 70 day writing is going very well , I thought I'd get bored, having lived it and retold it and thought about it so often; but it still fscinates me. I still see things I'd forgotten or can add later events to, which explains certain mysteries. And I have yet to get to the exciting part!

I and my 100 year old aunt are psychic. Card readings, spirit calling, we see dead people. True. Don't do tarot cards, but could, have crystal ball. Not something I speak of.
