Quotable Thursday: E.M. Forster
Yes, you read that correctly. Quotable Sunday is now Quotable Thursday (I don’t plan on blogging weekends any longer*) I’m dropping Thursday Thirteen and will continue Conversation Thursday when there’s a notable conversation to mention. So on with today’s quote.
“I suggest that the only books that influence us are those for which we are ready, and which have gone a little farther down our particular path than we have yet got ourselves.” ~E.M. Forster, Two Cheers for Democracy, 1951
ETA: The weekend includes Friday.
Wow–all that switching hurt my brain, but I think I got the bottom line–quotes on Thursday, lol.
LOL…yes, Angela. You are correct. Also, I realized I should have mentioned that “weekend” includes Friday (I just added a note in the post to reflect the change). Lots of activity going on my end and I have to manage my time differently.
Today I stumbled across a newsite that had a feature - 50 Greatest Books since 1986. What a fascinating feature. It gave a image of the cover and a synopsis of the author and the book. I made notes of several that I wanted to read. Believe it was on,
Entertainment Weekly

I may do a post of some of them. Now I have more assigned reading to look for. I always try to get these at used book stores so I can take my time reading them.
Best

Thanks for sharing, Steve.
Looking forward to Steve’s post of the to-read from the list of 50 greatest. I’m a Davis, too, maybe there will be something that trips my trigger to add to my reading list as well!
No blogging on the weekends? If I put that in place, I’d hardly post at all. Good for you for setting priorities and sticking to them.
Well, I’m sad to not see you around here on the weekends anymore, but I aspire to one day reach the point where my blogging addiction might decrease enough to allow me to do the same!~
We miss you on weekends.
I know, but there’s a specific reason. I can’t diviluge anything right now. Hopefully in a few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for good news.
