Songs I’m Listening To

Published by auria cortes at 9:27 am under Uncategorized

Wendy at Writes in the City repped me on AW regarding a song meme. Below I posted the songs that I”ve been listening to. Sorry, they’re all in Spanish.

No Tengo Dinero - This song is about a man who doesn’t have money and because of that knows that his girl can’t love him.

He Tratado - This is a song about a guy who is trying to forget his girl.

El Cantante - The video has the lyrics

Hasta Ayer - He’s singing about a breakup.

Nice! Thanks for doing the meme. I have no clue what they are saying, but it sounds great.

LOL…I know, but the meme was to write down what I’m currently listening to. So I did. But I do listen to songs in English as well. Just not recently.

I enjoy Spanish, and used to know at least enough to get by if I had to. Now not so much, maybe if they’d slow it down a little. I actually won awards at Spanish contests in school when I was a kid and still remember at least most of one of my winning recitations, but I guess if you don’t use it you lose it. Mine’s pretty much lost. I still enjoy the music, though. Except for the No Tengo Dinero, somehow I find that video disturbing.

    Doug,

The white boy is coming out. The video is so cute. That’s what we Spanish people make our kids do…you know, to keep it real. :-)

One’s cuteness is another’s (admittedly white boy’s) creepiness, I suppose! The thing is the song is stuck in my head now. Not good.

Well, join the Puerto Rican club, mi amigo. No Tengo Dinero is one of those songs that us Puerto Rico folk sing on command.

Slowly but surely I’ll bring the Spanish-speaking Doug back. He’s dying to get out. He’s the one feeding the song in your head.

So….I can speak 6 different languages, but none well. AND I speak using all of them mixed together, which would probablt ge me beat up in 6 different countries. OHHH I even understand a little Vietnamese.(from my city job/hearing them and AT&T interpreter. ANYWAY—way to go Doug. Viva La Ricky Martin!

Dang it … “la próxima noche, todos oyen las ventanas hacer ruidos …” or something like that. It’s all coming back to me now, something about the next night and everyone suffering noisy windows. I won an award for that, the start of a rather lengthy rambling of some family living a haunted house. Surely I have no tengo dinero to show for that, of course, but I did get a trophy. It’s somewhere.

    LIVIN, LOL…

Doug, the rumor is true! We Spanish people are taking over. You’re falling into my perfect plan. Sprinkle Spanish items on this blog and before you know it, visitors will be obessed with the language, the culture.

I finally made it to your blog! I’m sorry it took so long.
Hasta Ayer is one of my favorite songs. I’m a salsa dancer so I suppose that goes without saying. Kumbia Kings are big here and I love that song - I’d never seen the video. Too cute!

Awesome songs, I quite like them even though the style isn’t what I usually listen to.
